Varuno is a personal finance app built on one principle: your financial records belong on your device. Wallets, budgets, salary and investments live in an encrypted local database — your account is only a key, never a copy of your finances.

Private by architecture
Most apps ask you to trust a policy. Varuno is built so there is little to trust: the app talks to exactly two services, and neither ever receives your financial data.
What leaves your device
- Your account service receives your name, email, country and base currency — the metadata that keys your data to you.
- An exchange-rate service receives a currency code. That's how conversions stay current.
What never does
- No endpoint receives a balance, a transaction, a salary figure, a document image or scanned text.
- Payslip and receipt scanning run entirely on the device, with a mandatory review step before anything is saved.
- No analytics SDK, no ads, no crash reporter.
The database on your phone is encrypted (AES-256) with a key held in the iOS Keychain. The full model, including its honest limits, is documented at support.varmanlabs.com/varuno/security.

Money, in full
Wallets in any currency — banks, cards, cash, travel cards. Expenses, income and transfers, two-level categories, budgets with rollover, recurring bills and savings goals.
Salary & retirement
A salary timeline with take-home estimates, and CPF-style retirement tracking for Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Hong Kong and New Zealand. Estimates only — never payroll advice.
Documents, on-device
Scan receipts and import payslips with on-device text recognition — including a privacy review step where you crop and redact before anything is read. Investment statements import from CSV with row-by-row review.
Insights that add up
Net worth, cash flow, savings rate and spending heatmaps — computed locally from your own records.
Your data, your files
Export a portable copy or a full backup any time, restore it anywhere, and delete your account — server and device — from inside the app.
Locked and masked
Face ID or passcode app lock, a privacy cover in the app switcher, and one toggle that hides every balance on screen.
What Varuno doesn't do
Knowing what an app refuses to do tells you as much as its feature list.
- No bank connections. Nothing syncs automatically; you enter transactions or import files you choose.
- No cloud copy of your finances. Backups are files you export and keep. Your account stores identity metadata only.
- No financial advice. Every figure Varuno estimates says so where it appears.
- No tracking. There is no analytics or advertising code in the app to switch off.
Availability
Varuno runs on iPhone (iOS 15.5 or later) and is currently in TestFlight internal testing — it is not yet on the public App Store, and there is no Android or web version today. This page will link to the App Store when it ships.
